About Reiki

Reiki is like therapeutic touch that also works with natural energy in the body to help promote health, healing, growth, and relaxation in an individual.

ˈrākē/
noun
1.
a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.

My mission as a Reiki Master Practitioner is to promote more than an hour of relaxation, healing, and meditation. I want to give people the tools to heal themselves upon leaving a session. I focus on meditation, self love, self compassion, inner validation, inner child work, and combating negative self talk and the stigma of mental illness. I strive to empower people to care for themselves. Reiki is but a beginning.

Reiki helps relieve blockages in our energetic systems and creates space for us to begin the healing process. While many do use reiki to heal physical pain, my work focuses mostly on the emotional level and chakra system. A theory of energetic blockages is that they stem from repressed emotional or physical trauma. We tend to ignore our bodies as much as possible: when we are hungry, lonely, angry, tired, indecisive, and so on, we tend to push these feelings aside and make decisions based on impermanent feelings. Reiki is a tool to help bring clarity to the surface; to promote healing and growth in the body.

During a session, many experience a sense of deep relaxation, similar to sleep, and could feel a light tingling sensation. Many also can feel the practitioner’s hands “heat up” as they work along the body. Some report sensing colors shift on their body, an overall lightness of being, and some might experience very brief visuals. After a session, most people tend to feel very relaxed and peaceful and may notice their pain has been reduced. However, some people find that their emotions have been stirred and grapple to deal with a light uncomfortableness for the next few days. This is the beginning of the process. A good suggestion is to try a couple to track the pain or illness, give the practitioner more time to work on the body, and to allow your body to open up. There is no guarantee that you will experience any of the things I described, but you don’t have to “believe” for reiki to work. It is a passive healing modality.

I am available for support after sessions too. I am more concerned with longevity of self and am moving in a direction where I provide more coaching  to give you the tools to heal yourself after our first session.
