once I sent you a dream:
I had lantern eyes
so you could find me

my hair
was longer in this picture;
in the limbs of a tree.
I was an exposed root to
when you first met me.
as you walked by,
I saw a ray in each eye:
you had been eating the sun
and I
had just been (with you)
yelling too
eating the shine
off a lake
of the newest moon
that eclipsed around us like a
silver ring,
a parentheses,
that kept us
and I  followed you
in between all of the spaces
without a word.

love is a quivering ellipsis
that can’t be bound,
only felt in

but you hung around anyhow
with me in your mouth
and carried me
“solar eclipse”
